The festival at that time was held annually as part of the Slavonic Bazaar. “Rock apounachy” was a kind of “festival within a festival”, an alternative venue in contrast to other phonogram and pop scenes in the city. It was rock bands that gathered here - playing “live” in a wide variety of styles and directions - mainly from Belarus, but there were also quite a few foreign bands.

After two decades Bulgaria. In Vitebsk, the guys played something like No Doubt with a black-haired  vocalist in front of a microphone (by the way, quite unexpectedly, “Sprint” once appeared at the “Make Blues, Not War” festival in Kiev with a strong blues program; at this festival, by the way, the headliner was ex-guitarist of the Bluesbreakers and Rolling Stones Mick Taylor).

Возвращаясь к “Рок апоўначы”, также запомнилась немецкая команда «Blues On» из Германии._cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ The guys perfectly prepared their program, improvisingly playing the action in the style of the Blues Brothers in front of the audience.

All organizational issues (sound, light, transport, invitation of musicians, etc.) were dealt with by the members of the Vitebsk group "Vokzal", in particular their leader, vocalist and guitarist Zhenya Kovalevsky. They also invited every year the traditional for Vitebsk and Polotsk host of all significant rock events, the famous Anisa.

The Night Blues were "in the right place at the right time". For their second outdoor performance (after Brest), the musicians arrived by agreement with Kovalevsky. Immediately before the concert, we met Sergey Anischenko (Anisa), which became a guarantee for the subsequent performances of the White Night Blues at the legendary Rock-Cola festival, the main organizer of which was Anisa, and acquaintance with this wonderful person grew into a long-term friendship.

The group arrived in Vitebsk with the following line-up: drummer Stepan Nesterny, vocalist Alexey Nesterny and bassist Alexey Nesterny, vocalist There are very few photographs from the Vitebsk performance, most of them were taken with a Zenit film camera, which Nesterenko accidentally   took with him.

On the eve of departure to Vitebsk, the musicians met at a rehearsal point in Mogilev, which was located in the basement of the Kosmos cinema. It so happened that at that time the drummer Styopa Bobkov was in charge of it.

Thousands of visiting musicians were accommodated everywhere in festival Vitebsk. For example, the Blues On group lived in the rehabilitation center  internationalist soldiers.  The White Night Blues group had a chance to live in another exotic place - in a two-story cottage that stood right above a cliff on the steep bank of the Dvina tributary - the Luchesa River. For incredibly clean and tasty water (especially in the morning, after a night performance), they went to a coastal spring.
