last echelon
Such an unusual name was given to a rock festival held in Mogilev on December 11, 1999. The initiator of holding such events in the city in the late 90s was the tireless Clyde Erman, aka Uncle Clyde, aka Sasha Kasabutsky (1975 - 2020). To help him, allies in the informal youth association “In a still pool ...”

This team of active, enthusiastic people made a lot of musical events. And if earlier it was possible to talk about parties, first on a city scale, then regional and republican, then in December 1999, the organizers swung at nothing less than an international festival.
Three bands from Ukraine (Kovel’ka) and Tikhadum Stocker (Rovno) were among the foreign guests ), "Chant Moulin" (Rivne), as well as a punk team from the Russian capital with the formidable name "Gang of Four". From domestic teams, Iron Logic (Minsk), Title (Orsha), Ein-Sof (Mogilev), Avangardshkola (Slutsk), Jah's Intervention (Mogilev) participated.
Here also happened the debut of the hitherto unknown trio "White Night Blues" this is not a group at all, but a one-time project prepared specifically for this festival). Now it is well known to everyone that this “one-time project” was stretched with the light hand of the organizers of the “Last Echelon” for the next two decades.

Which completely coincides with the description of Mr. Shum in his festival report or "memories of some musical events of the first month of winter", which he presented to the readers in his magazine. More recently, this miraculously surviving number was found on the shelves of some of the rock archivists. Here is what was written in it:
“As soon as the musicians appeared on the stage, I recognized one of them - guitarist Ein-Sof. The other two, apparently, came from Belynych. The age and the way the musicians managed the instruments smoothly and skillfully made it very clear that they were real professionals on the stage. And the first composition easily proved it. Romanov was drinking wine from his throat in front, distracting me with this (Damn! I wonder how!), and the audience was already applauding the successfully launched performance. And then Mr. Nesterenko stunned everyone. This, according to him, is not yet a performance, but a small warm-up! Op-pa! And that's when the performance began! A wave of blues of drop-dead quality and melodiousness burst into this hall so easily and swiftly that everyone, dumbfounded, sat for several minutes, simply dazzled by such a turn of events. And then Romanov could not stand it. He rushed to the stage and began to dance with skill. The surroundings were getting hotter and hotter. Suddenly, the Serpent jumped out from behind the stage and, finding himself next to Romanov, supported the initiative. People started running to the stage from all sides! I have never seen so many people dancing under the stage, never! It was dancing, not rushing and not strangling, but dancing the good old blues and rock and roll! They danced alone, as best they could, as best they could, and in pairs, pressing their cheeks against each other. How great it was, Lord, how nice it was to see and feel it all!
double Well, the musicians, inspired by such dedication from the public, set to work. The band's songs alternated with old instrumental hits, the guitarist played one solo harder than the other. There were happy smiles on the faces of the musicians. And when the saxophonist from Laus Deo ran onto the stage and improvised, everyone simply howled with delight! I didn't think I was a blues fan, but the force that dragged me to the stage said exactly that!
Eh! There would be more of this quality of music on our stage, there would be more of such a holiday!...”
